The demonstration of this video explain the use of arduino compatible board and the pictoblox as the approach to code the arduino. You can use the arduino IDE but this video, we specifically use the pictoblox in order to understand the flow of coding your arduino project using the arduino.

PictoBlox is a graphical programming software based on Scratch 3.0 that is suitable for taking the initial steps into the world of programming. Its user-friendly interface and drag-and-drop capability minimise the need for children to recall grammar and rules, which is common in traditional programming languages and sometimes scares and intimidates them. As a result, all they have to do now is concentrate on the topic at hand and practise skills like logical reasoning and problem-solving, which are essential in today’s technology-driven society.

PictoBlox, like Scratch, has the following basic elements:
-Sprites
-Stage
-Blocks
-Script
-Sprites

SPRITES

A sprite is a character or item that performs various tasks in the projects. It comprehends and executes the commands supplied to it. The bear in the picture is a sprite. Tobi is his name. In PictoBlox, he’ll be your coding partner!

STAGE

The stage is the region where the sprite executes your program’s operations. The stage has its own sound effects and texts. Pictures can be used to embellish the stage; these images are known as backgrounds. You may use PictoBlox’s built-in collection of backdrops, create your own, upload an image from your PC, or even take a photograph.

SCRIPTING

In PictoBlox/Scratch terminology, a script is a programme or code. It’s a collection of ‘blocks’ that are stacked on top of one another in a specified order to complete a task or a series of tasks. You can write numerous scripts that can all execute at the same time. Only the scripting area in the centre of the screen may be used to write scripts.

BLOCKS

A block is a jigsaw puzzle component that is used to write programmes by dragging and dropping them in the scripting area below one another. The mistakes that can arise while writing codes in traditional programming languages are eliminated when using blocks to create programmes.

BLOCKS OF PALETTE

Under the Code tab, you’ll find the block palette. It is divided into many palettes, including Motion, Sound, and Control. Each palette has its own set of blocks that execute the duties that the palette name specifies. The blocks in the Motion palette, for example, will govern the sprite’s motion, while the blocks in the Regulate palette will control the script’s operation based on certain criteria.

Other block palettes may be loaded using the Add Extension button on the left bottom.

How to use Arduino with Pictoblox for Blink LED

Modes of operation, PictoBlox can be used in two ways:

Stage Mode: You may use this mode to compose sprite scripts and use boards like evive to interact with sprites in real-time. You won’t be able to communicate with Pictoblox if you disconnect the board from Pictoblox.

Upload Mode: This mode allows you to write scripts and upload them to the board, allowing you to utilise it even when it is not connected to your computer. For example, if you need to upload a script to make moving robots.
