In this article, we are going to discuss the idea of using SPSS. In many cases, most of students or user did not understand the SPSS platform. SPSS platform divided into three different views namely as:

  1. SPSS Data View (Where you setting up your variables and Dataset)
  2. SPSS Output where you obtained your result and export your findings
  3. SPSS Syntax (where you manipulate certain coding to make further advance module and analysis)



First SPSS Data View

SPSS Data view consists of two tabs. The TAB located at the bottom down on your left side of the SPSS view. This TAB consists of A (Data) and B (Variable). The first step that you must do is to name and setting up your variable/s. My suggestion, list you variable as coding that easier for you to remember or manipulate later on. In this example, I am going to use the dataset of the simple questionnaire related to the research regarding knowledge of Tuberculosis and the relationship with the demographic factors. I am going to use the published article ideas from the BMC Website, entitle: “Knowledge and perception of tuberculosis and the risk to become treatment default among newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis patients treated in primary health care, East Nusa Tenggara: a retrospective study” Based on this scientific study, the researcher plan to investigate the factors that influence the defaulter status among TB patients. The idea of this study can be translated into generic ideas as given in the dataset and questionnaire below:
